The Projects
The Community Health and Nutrition Support Program for Pregnancy, Lactating Mothers & Children under 5 years is a project implemented by Tanlishe Foundation. The program is aimed at:
- Improving the quality and coverage of services for the management of severe and moderate acute malnutrition via the health system.
- Improve the nutrition status of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers in Tanzania.
- Support malnourished children with nutritional education and link them to service providers.
- Support, identify, and assess vulnerable children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers with nutritional-related diseases and link them to service providers.
- Increase community understanding and awareness of the importance of RCH services, such as immunization and family planning services.
The program is designed to reduce the incidence of child malnutrition, maternal/child morbidity, and mortality rates. It will also enhance the capability of mothers and families to take care of child health and general upbringing through nutrition and health education.
Target Areas
The target areas for the Community Health and Nutrition Support Program are Coast, Lindi, Shinyanga, Tabora, Kigoma, Njombe, Ruvuma, Iringa, Geita and Dar Es Salaam . The program will also cover 10 districts as an extension of the work targeting 600,000 people directly and about 200,000 indirectly.
